This page lists the meetings for Shadow Authority for Westmorland and Furness Council.
The Shadow Authority has the responsibility to commence and sustain its running as a Shadow Authority. The functions of the Shadow Authority include:
· Approving a budget and appropriate policies for the Westmorland and Furness Council and setting of the council tax for its area
· Adopting the Shadow Authority’s Constitution in accordance with the requirements of section 9P of the Local Government Act 2000
· Appointing the Chair and Vice Chair of the Shadow Authority, the Chair and Vice-Chair of Committees (except the Executive Committee), Sub-Committees and Special Committees; Leader
· Adopting the Shadow Authority’s Codes of Conduct for Shadow Members and Officers and the Protocol on Member/Officer Relations
· Where permitted by the law, will make arrangements for appointments to outside bodies
· Approving the Shadow Members Allowance Scheme, including any pension provision for Members, following advice from any Independent Remuneration Panel
